Join Us for a Special Indigenous Celebration!

Dear friends and community members,

We’re thrilled to invite you to a unique and meaningful event this Saturday, October 12th, as we come together to honor Indigenous People’s Day. While the official holiday falls on October 14th, we’ve chosen to host our celebration a bit early to ensure maximum participation.

Event Details

  • Date: Saturday, October 12th
  • Location: Radness Ensues – 3837 River Rd. N, Keizer
  • Time: 1-6pm

What to Expect

This celebration promises to be an unforgettable day of culture, education, and connection. Here’s what you can look forward to:

  1. Special Guest Speaker: We’re excited to announce that Steven Barrios, aka Aunty Steven, will be making the journey from Montana to speak at our event! As a co-founder of the Montana Two Spirit Society along with David Herrera, and a proud tribal citizen of the Blackfeet Nation, Steven has dedicated almost 30 years to educating others about Two-Spirit culture. The Montana Two Spirit Society hosts gatherings that are attended by over a hundred participants.
  2. Art Raffle: Enter for a chance to win beautiful artwork donated by Indigenous artist Diane Bocking.
  3. Traditional Food: A tribal elder will be preparing delicious fry bread to share with attendees.
  4. Free Buttons: The first 50 participants will receive free commemorative buttons.
  5. Activities for All: We’ll have coloring sheets available, making this an event the whole family can enjoy.

Wear Orange to Show Support

We encourage all attendees to wear orange as a sign of respect for the “Every Child Matters” movement, commemorating the lost and honoring the healing journey of survivors.

About Our Organizer

This event has been thoughtfully organized by our esteemed board member, Priscilla Lowells, who is part of the Blackfeet Nation. We’re proud to support her efforts in bringing this celebration to our community.

Special Recognition

We’re also excited to share that Steven Barrios has been named the recipient of the ANTSS Lifetime Achievement Award! This honor recognizes his tireless work in educating both Native and non-Native communities about Two-Spirit identity and HIV awareness.
